Job Description

Our client, Gold Fields, a globally diversified gold producer, is currently seeking a Principal Geologist – Resource Modeling to support the development of the Windfall project located in northern Quebec—one of the most ambitious mining projects of the past decades.

Position Overview

Reporting to the technical team, you will be responsible for generating and evaluating geological and resource models to support growth initiatives and strategic decision-making. You will play a key role in guiding investment decisions and optimizing the asset portfolio.

  • Review technical data including block models, geological databases, QA/QC, technical reports, mine plans, schedules, and cost data
  • Develop conceptual and advanced geological models incorporating multiple geological scenarios
  • Generate resource estimates using advanced geostatistical techniques
  • Deliver high-quality resource models aligned with financial and strategic objectives
  • Present results to senior management, executive committees, and the board of directors
  • Conduct technical reviews, scenario analyses, and due diligence assessments
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on strategic projects
  • Conduct site visits domestically and internationally as required
  • Stay current with industry best practices in geological modeling and resource estimation

Qualifications

  • University degree in Geology or a related field
  • Minimum of 20 years of relevant experience (exploration, resource geology, and/or mining operations)
  • Experience across multiple deposit types and geological settings
  • International and multi-jurisdictional experience

Technical Expertise

  • Strong understanding of mineralized systems and mining environments
  • Advanced knowledge of geostatistics and conditional simulation techniques
  • Expertise in 3D geological modeling and mineral resource estimation
  • Solid understanding of financial drivers impacting resource value
  • Experience with grade control and reconciliation processes
  • Familiarity with both underground and open-pit mining environments
  • Proficiency with modern implicit modeling tools
