As part of major development projects, the mechanical finishing engineer is responsible for and participates in the development of the vehicle body. He orients the design and is responsible for its technical integrity; advises the organization to maintain its technological leadership. He is the custodian of the product.
Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering;
Relevant experience in product development (composites, plastic) and finishing preferably in the transport or automotive industry;
Experience in propulsion system integration;
Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec;
Knowledge of the transit industry (standards, suppliers, customers);
Project Management Knowledge;
Knowledge of product development methods, such as functional analysis, risk management, tight schedule monitoring;
Knowledge of problem solving methods (8D);
Knowledge of Mechanical Software: CATIA V5;
Good command of the Microsoft Office suite, and knowledge of a technical data management system (Kola);
Good mastery of geometric tolerancing analysis (GD & T).
Participate in design reviews;
Build and maintain the design file including calculations, tests, verifications, validations and approvals;
Check and approve new concepts;
Collaborate and get involved in continuous improvement activities;
Organize and plan activities related to development projects as a team member or leader;
Provide technology watch;
Meet with suppliers and customers;
Provide technical support to the designers;
Calculate the costs of each new development;
Involve suppliers in product development;
Manage development projects.
Excellent ability to work in a team;
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects in parallel;
Bilingualism (English / French).
