The challenges that await you

The Resilient Infrastructure Division is responsible for developing preliminary project studies and plans and specifications for municipal projects (sewers, aqueducts, roadways, traffic and transport, pumping stations, retention basins, green infrastructure, etc.) aimed at adapting infrastructure to climate change. It is particularly responsible for diagnosing infiltration, backup, and water accumulation issues on the territory resulting from rainfall and spring floods, as well as for preliminary project studies and plans and specifications that enable the implementation of solutions. It ensures the analysis of the behavior of existing networks and the preliminary design of future networks to reduce the impacts of climate change, such as flooding and overflows on infrastructure, residences, and natural environments.

You will primarily be responsible for supervising studies and diagnostics of rain and river flooding issues, namely, infiltrations, backups, and water accumulations on the territory resulting from rainfall and spring floods. He or she is also responsible for integrating all components of the projects in order to finalize their scope and carry out the preliminary project studies and plans and specifications.

You will also supervise activities related to sectoral hydraulic studies and technical feasibility to establish solutions that adapt infrastructure to climate change in order to reduce the impacts of climatic hazards on infrastructure, residences, and natural environments. In the context of projects, you will ensure the integration of various components and ensure their feasibility through preliminary project studies and will follow up on the preparation of plans and specifications.

Thus, you will need to ensure the smooth progress of projects in order to achieve the performance and quality objectives set by management while coordinating and ensuring the technical and administrative link between city services, service divisions, and service management.

You will be required to design, develop, and revise processes, methods, procedures, and recommend measures to improve and optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the division's activities. You will need to ensure their implementation, integration within the division, and compliance by your team members. You will assess the needs for human, material, and financial resources required for activities and participate in budget administration.

You will play a positive leadership role within the team while mobilizing your colleagues towards achieving the division's objectives.

You will need to guide, direct, and supervise team members in the execution of their respective mandates, determine the general order of priorities, define objectives, and inform them of your expectations.

The ideal profile for us

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in civil engineering;
  • Have nine (9) years of relevant experience in the role;
  • Be a member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec;
  • Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously and ensure the required follow-ups;
  • Result-oriented while having a focus on customer satisfaction;
  • Strong aptitude in project management, personnel management, and team mobilization.
